ü Spread the Word

While there's no right or wrong way to announce your engagement, it's definitely important to let your family and close friends know first. Share your news via a phone call or a visit to your closest friends and family before planning a party.  Engagement parties usually takes place within few months of the proposal.  Traditionally, the bride's family plans this, but anyone can throw it for you, and it could be as formal or casual as you like. This event should be all about the two of you, so make sure it matches your personal style , e.g. the décor

ü Start Dreaming

Picture your perfect day -- imagine the location, the time of the year, the décor, the colours, and your outfits. Search the Internet, look for planners like www.eventsroyale.co.uk and read magazines to get ideas. Talk to each other and even your friends and families to see what they have in mind. There's no need to start dreaming too big, but having a general idea of your wedding day can make the rest of the process much easier.  Sit with your partner and set your budget -THIS IS A MUST DO.  To Determine how much you have to spend on your wedding from the start can help you save on the long run. Do you care more about amazing foods or a great live band? Would you rather downsize the cost of your venue or spend more on your honeymoon? Give yourselves a range of some items such as catering, but otherwise, try to stick to the budget you set, by prioritising what is important on the day.

ü Build a Guest List

I know it seems early in the stage to get this one done, but trust me, having a basic idea of how many people you want to invite can help shape the rest of the wedding. You'll have very different choices when it comes to refining your budget and selecting your venue when you've got a party of around 100 versus around 300. You will have ample time to tweak the list throughout the coming year, but you might as well have an estimate now. Be strict when it comes to the guest-list, even if you risk causing any offence. Extra guests can bump the cost right up as well as ruin table plans. And if you've said no children, then no children it is - don't make exceptions for anyone as this is your wedding.

ü Set A Date & Hire An Expert

It is very important to fix the date of your wedding sooner; as planning is the absolute key to work out a timeline and sticking to it. It's better to make your final decision sooner rather than later. As this will help you with the rest of you’re planning, ahead of your big day. Hire a professional wedding planner early (Like Me!) can help you.  Hire someone who is very experienced and can guide you all through till your wedding day. Feel comfortable with your planner knowing that your planner can deal with everything and anything leaving you to have a stress free day that you deserve

ü Delegate

You only have a pair of hands so get your friends and family to help you. They will be thrilled to be involved and you all can have fun. Play to peoples strengths; get an organised friend or family member to help with the timeline, an arty friend to help you design your invite, your mum/your mother-in-law going shopping for that ultimate dream dress or helping you out with your jewelleries or favours; these could give you some time to spend with your mum for the last time as a singleton and more time for your in-law to get to know you more.

ü  Find a Reception Venue

Now that you've got your date and a general idea of how many people you'd like to invite, start looking around for the perfect venue. While you're searching, don't forget to ask about everything you can think of like, rehearsal options, and any add-ons, e.g. if the venue requires you stick to a certain caterer or using their supplier list. Go on the Internet and read reviews on the venues you have in mind before setting up an appointment to visit.

ü Find a Dress

With thousands of choices, finding the perfect dress can seem a little daunting, so start small. With the general mood of your wedding day in mind, start thinking about styles that flatter your figure -- A-line versus mermaid, sheath versus ball gown. When you go to the wedding dress shop, try on several dresses, and don't be afraid to ask for advice from the shop's attendant. She may suggest something you've never even thought of.

ü Start Hiring The Best Vendors

Your wedding day isn't the time to experiment, Start hiring all your vendors early like your Venue Decorator, florist, Caterer, DJ, MC, Cake Decorator, Makeup Artist, and Hair stylist, Videographer/ Photographer etc...And just like your reception venue, vendors too book up fast. Do your homework well, go on line, hear from previous clients, attend bridal fairs and get to meet the vendors in person and when you find someone you love, reserve them fast! Remember above all it’s your event; hire the best to make your day stand out from the rest!

ü The Rehearsal

If you’re worried about it all going to plan; then do a run through the week before your big day. From your hair stylist to make up, to a trial run of your table set up from your wedding decorator, to a menu tasting from the venue or caterer, to the wedding rehearsal at the church practising your vows and the entrance to trying your dress to make sure it still fits. If you meet a vendor that is not willing to do this? RUN! All these will help calm your nerves and prepare you for the D Day.

ü Early to bed...Don't worry, Smile and be happy

Have a fun night in with your bridesmaids ahead of the big day and get at least 8 hours of beauty sleep. In the morning, wake up ahead of schedule and have some quiet time before all the madness begins, eat a good breakfast as that might be the only meal you might have till the reception and try to relax, after all its your day!. Above all, remember to have a good time! Don't rely on photos and videos for memories of your special day and make sure you exchange more than vows with your partner!

Happy Planning!
